Meet the Writers…

Writers Rocco Bosco and Darran Jordan have been collaborating for years, challenging themselves creatively through a variety of projects. Works to date include novels, short stories and comic books in the realms of fiction, as well as academic papers and books of non-fiction. Their first novel was the fantasy work Last Knight, based on King Arthur mythology. Their latest published collaboration was Defining the Fringe of Contemporary Australian Archaeology, an academic book for Cambridge Scholars Publishing. They are currently at work scripting Pernicious Influences, a comic book series about the history of comics, filtered through the true-life story of anti-comics crusader Fredric Wertham. Both have written a variety of solo projects as well. When not writing, Rocco teaches history and Darran works as an archaeologist.

ONE THOUSAND CUTS

Suffering death by a thousand cuts was a torturous form of execution where a body was literally cut methodically over a prolonged period of time. Each of these stories is one cut, words like razors cutting into your mind. Reading all one thousand stories will reshape your psyche, fundamentally and irrevocably changing you forever.

FICTION

The first writing collaboration for Bosco and Jordan was the novel Last Knight. It was soon followed by the fantasy epic Never, then the surreal philosophical historical novel Everyman (the first part of which was adapted into comic form and can be read in the comics section of this website). They also contributed short stories to the Eschaton anthologies. Their most recent collaborative project is an unfinished science fiction novel titled Judas Hole. Bosco is also currently writing a solo novel titled The Cohort.

COMICS

The first comic book collaboration for Bosco and Jordan was the superhero saga Helm, illustrated by Sean Lee and published by Eclectica Press. Jordan’s solo scripts (illustrated by his father, artist Brian Jordan) for Tales of Stranggore and Dogs were released through the same publisher. Currently Bosco and Jordan are collaborating on scripting Pernicious Influences, a series about the history of comic books, illustrated by artist Simon Myers (a sample of which is in the comics section of this website).

NON-FICTION

Bosco (historian) and Jordan (archaeologist) have both presented academic papers at conferences and symposia worldwide. In addition to papers in journals, their academic work has also been published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing. Jordan has also written non-fiction books about pop culture, including two about the DC comic book series Green Lantern and one on the true story of an Australian based group of Doctor Who fans.
